Psychosis occurs when the person experiences hallucinations or delusions. The psychotic symptoms are sensory or cognitive misperceptions that are not based in reality.

Hallucinations can be visual, auditory, olfactory, or tactile, though most people associate hallucinations with visual hallucinations. In addition to seeing things that are not present, hallucinations can involve hearing things, smelling things, and feeling things that are not truly there.

Delusions are thoughts that are not based in reality. The difference between a mere unrealistic thought and a delusion is the degree to which the thought is unconnected to reality. For example, someone may think they want to become a professional football player though they have not played well in high school. Though it may not be realistic, it is probably not a delusion by psychiatric standards. A delusion is more extreme. The person may think they have been chosen by God, are being stalked by the FBI, or have superpowers.

The psychiatric illness that is most often associated with psychosis is schizophrenia. Psychotic symptoms can also occur with bipolar disorder and depression.

The hallucinations and delusion of schizophrenia may be of paranoia or seem random. Paranoid schizophrenia may cause delusions of being watched or having their thoughts read by outside forces.

Psychotic symptoms of bipolar disorder are related to the depression or mania that the person is experiencing. Hallucinations or delusions related to depression are more unusual than suicidal thoughts.

An example of a hallucination due to a depressive episode is hearing voices telling the person to commit suicide. Depression can cause delusions that the earth is a hellish place from which they must save their loved ones by killing them.

The psychotic symptoms of bipolar disorder from mania can be delusions of grandiosity. The person may believe they are immortal, have superpowers, or are chosen by God or somehow more special than humans.

Bipolar disorder and depression do not commonly cause psychotic symptoms. Most people living with these psychiatric conditions will never experience psychotic episodes.

Anti-psychotic medication like Haldol is used to treat psychosis. Haldol and other anti-psychotic medication come in oral form. If the person is resistent to taking medication regularly, the person may need to take monthly injections.

Once the bipolar disorder is stabilized, the psychotic symptoms of bipolar disorder subside. Hallucinations and delusions seem very realistic to the person while having a psychotic episode. During the time that the person is experiencing periods of psychosis, the person may have significant stress and anxiety related to the fear of losing touch with reality.

Sheila Wilson explains what are the common manic depression symptom and how to spot bipolar disorder in children in the early days.
the root cause - personal experience

by Marcia Francous

the root cause – personal experience

[youtube:C_-dtLrfhlE;[link:The Root Cause Review];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_-dtLrfhlE&feature=related]

The Root Cause is an eBook detailing a lifestyle technique that eliminated my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, (OCD). The eBook focused on finding, coincidentally, the “Root Cause” behind OCD. The method concentrates on OCD but I think the method would be helpful to anyone suffering from any anxiety disorder or stress related issue.

My OCD disorder eventually led to other anxiety disorders like panic attacks and phobias until I was finally at my wits end. Everything offered me by the medical community was designed to treat the symptoms but not eliminate the disorder.

Unlike many treatments for OCD The Root Cause eliminated the reason behind my anxiety disorder and offered me more than medication, which only treated me, and often with the result of side effects that were in many cases as distressing as the condition itself.

The eBook gave me a lot of information about OCD and other anxiety disorders as well as telling me the best methods for dealing with them. The testimonials on the web site showed it to be well tested and proven and I decided to give it a try. In a very real way The Root Cause was able to bring together a great deal of resources that were able to combat, and eventually cure my debilitating anxiety disorder.

Pros of The Root Cause

An eBook means that I will always have the information to hand.

The number of conditions that this eBook can be used for is amazing.

People who have been suffering for years as well as people who have only just developed the condition.

Possible Negative Aspects of The Root Cause

Not everyone likes to work through things by themselves and some might want a more hands on approach.

My Conclusion

The Root Cause helped me overcome my OCD but it has also helped a variety of people suffering from other anxiety related issues like panic attacks unrelated to OCD. By addressing the continuing cycle present in all anxiety disorders the Root Cause helps you find the ‘root cause’ behind the conditions so that you can overcome it, it certainly helped me beat my OCD.

The Root Cause is based on the personnel experience of the author and offers a natural method of dealing with anxiety and gives out very impressive results. The side effects of OCD medication, for some like me, seem worse than the condition and The Root Cause was my perfect alternative.

When a woman is pregnant her body goes through many various changes. Plenty of these changes are related to hormones. Hormones may cause the body to react differently to many different scenarios. One problem that many girls face is panic fits during pregnancy. This is not a significant problem if you’re taking recognize and take command of these attacks as quickly as they occur.

If you are a person that already suffers from panic fits then you will know what you are dealing with. Panic attacks during pregnancy may appear more often because of the hormonal changes you are experiencing. If you’ve not already been suffering from panic episodes they you may experience your first one during pregnancy.

It’s critical to understand that panic attacks while pregnant are said to be common so you do not need to worry that you are somehow causing harm to the baby. The very first thing you need to do is recognize the signs and symptoms of the attack. Many girls stress about everything they do and everything they eat because they fear it will harm their unborn child. In truth, if you live a normal life and eat a proper diet you’ll often not have anything to worry about.

After you see that you are going to experience panic fits during pregnancy there are steps that you can take to help relieve the issue. Recognize the symptoms before they strike. Formulate a plan of action before you have an attack. Plan an activity that you can do to help get your intelligence targeted somewhere else. When you are feeling stressed you are also putting your baby under pressure.

Discuss these attacks with your doctor when you have your monthly visit. Chances are he has lots of experience in working with panic attacks when pregnant. He’ll counsel you to things to do which will help you relax. He can also help to put your mind at ease about the healthiness of your baby. While it is terribly ordinary for a woman to worry about the healthiness of her baby before it is born, becoming obsessive about that worry can be dangerous to you and possibly even the baby.

When you’re feeling an attack starting you can try some deep respiring exercises. Your doctor can instruct you how to try this. This is something you will also have to know ways to do in the work process so getting an early start at practice will help.

Take frequent walks. Just because you have fallen pregnant does not mean that you can stop your ordinary exercise routine. The body needs the exercise when pregnant to help it make preparations for the method of birth. This will also help your body recover quicker after the birth. Taking short walks will help you to relax and get your mind off what’s disturbing you.

It is important that you find how to work through your panic episodes when pregnant. Your unborn child is depending on you to offer a healthy environment until he is prepared to take on the world on his own. Staying calm and getting plenty of rest won’t only be of benefit to you but it’ll also benefit your baby now and after the birth.

For both the kid and the folks, a child panic attack can be both major and scary. Some of the facts around a kid panic fit will be outlined in this quick article along with a decipher to a couple of the clues that can help folks aid their child during this scary and confusing time. Panic and anxiety together with other emotional levels are experienced far differently for children than adults, so when working with this situation nothing is as critical as education.

As a consequence of experiencing panic fits many youngsters and teens will develop fears of going places. They’re scared that they’re going to be embarrassed in they suffer a panic fit while joining in an activity. Child panic defects have many different kinds.

GAD – Generalized foreboding Disorder

The patient who experiences excessive fret about a series of event is often impacted by an anxiety disorder known as GAD. The time has tiny to do with the amount of’logical worry’ that is applied since the events can occur either during the past, present or future. Often past events, talks, impending events, school, chums, family, functions or any other chance are some of the things children or youths may occasionally stress about. A child cannot control the quantity of time expended worrying about such things if they experience GAD.

Relaxation methods and therapy are the well known paths to treat GAD. A trained mental well-being physician is generally the best prepared to encounter like disorder although typically children can be talked out of their worry and it can do miracles. Rather than daunting words of worry children are taught to use positive self-talk and generate a dialogue with others to explore their feelings. A prescribed medication is usually not used for a kid panic fit disorder.

Separation Anxiety Disorder

When youngsters are separated from friends or cosy situation that they are used to then they may experience panic. Typically this applies to the younger children who are separated from their folks. Stress can spring from separation from a carer and happens in many cases when kids are left with a babysitter on a parents’ evening out on the tiles.

A child will avoid activities that result in a separation from the caregiver and when they are gone the child will worry unduly. Recognition of these emotions and a good dose of reality are the normal therapies concerned. They need to be made aware that nothing wrong happens, etc . Coping talents to handle the separation, regularly through role playing, are also taught to the kids. .

Anxiety and panic attacks can appear life-threatening. Having experienced the nervousness of a panic attack myself, I know how frightening it can be. In my case, I was so worried that I went to the ER of the local hospital because I'd never heard of a 'panic attack' before. I believed I was having a cardiac arrest, and I was far too young for that. My chest was tight, I has breathing problems, and I literally thought I'd die.

by Frank Gruber

Anxiety and panic attacks can appear life-threatening. Having experienced the anxiety of a panic attack myself, I know how scary it can be. In my case, I was so concerned that I went to the trauma room of the local infirmary because I’d never heard of a ‘panic attack’ before. I believed I was having a heart attack, and I was far too young for that. My chest was tight, I had difficulty breathing, and I literally thought I would die. It wasn’t until the doctor told me I had zip to fret about ( he informed me that I simply had a panic fit ) that I felt any kind of relief at all.

An anxiety episode, or a ‘panic attack,’ usually happens when the person least expects it. Often brought on by stress, they can occur all of a sudden and cause a person to become short of breath, feel agony inside their body, and feel a bit like they’re experiencing a significant medical problem due to the intense sense of nervousness. Panic episodes are not potentially fatal, however, and they can be handled and cured through natural means without medicine. Panic fit relief, therefore , is simply accomplished by anyone.

The American mental association states that foreboding and panic fits can be as short as a few seconds, but typically last longer. Often , they’re going on for 15-30 minutes, but can occur in cycles lasting one or two hours. When you realize that panic fits are caused by heavy levels of stress, which itself is caused by something else going on in your life, the next question is what to do about it. How does one stop panic attacks? Is there a remedy for anxiety and panic attacks?

It is necessary to understand that a panic fit is both a physical and a mental phenomenon. You feel the physical sensations, which are the ‘panic’ or ‘attack’ part of it, and these are real sensations you are feeling, not just something imaginary. It is also true that there is a mental element, because something in your life is causing stress or anxiousness to such an acute that it results in those scary physical sensations.

Yes, you can stop panic episodes dead in their tracks, in a natural way without medicine, by understanding the way to control the stress and what to do when you start to feel those panic sensations.

First, identify what is causing you the stress. 2nd, learn how to deal with the stress in a healthy way. 3rd, make use of some simple techniques,eg the deep breath hold, to end the uneasiness or panic feelings when they appear. Do those three straightforward things and you will cure panic attacks forever.

.

Do you end up worrying excessively over things that you use to take in stride? If so , you could be going through uneasiness or panic episodes.

by Isaac Asimov

Have you been awakened in the middle of the night with an overwhelming sense of terror, but can’t figure out what it is that you are so afraid of? Have you been in the grocery store, walking down the aisles, taking care of your own business, when you all of a sudden break out in a cold sweat, start shaking, and feel an intense wish to run out of the store as quickly as possible? Do you end up troubling unacceptably over things that you use to take in stride? If that is so you could be afflicted with tension or panic fits.

It’s said that 4 million people suffer because of this disorder. It is also known as Generalized Anxiety disorder. Afflicted with excessive nervousness can not only cause emotional symptoms, but can also point you to have physical symptoms as well . ( Headaches, muscle tension, sweating, nausea, having trouble sleeping, and so on.

The exact cause for anxiety attacks is unknown. Several factors do seem to contribute to it though. Some of these are genetics, ( family members that suffer from it also ), brain chemistry, ( unnatural levels of certain neurotransmitters ), and environmental tensions, such as death of a family member, abuse, divorce, for example. It is commoner in ladies then men, and can begin in infancy, or may not show up until adulthood.

If you suspect that you may be subjected to tension or panic attacks/disorder, it’s best to see your physician as fast as possible. It can be diagnosed, most likely, by your physician asking you certain questions, not only about your medical history, but also by performing a physical examination. They may base their diagnosis on the power and duration of your symptoms.

Treatment for anxiety abnormalities include medicine, behavioral care and/or relaxation systems. Medicines frequently used to treat anxiety defects are usually utilized in a short term manner, and include a class of gear called benzodiazepines. The medicine helps because it has a tendency to help cause you to feel calmer, can relax your muscles, and help with restlessness. Some of the common medicine’s used include Xanax, Valium, Ativan and Librium. It could take a couple of weeks for these medications to’kick in’. A number of these medications are addictive, so your doctor should/will monitor your use.

It’d also be advised that you try behavioral treatment, in which you learn to recognize what thoughts and behaviors might be leading you into having an anxiety episode. You could be able to be taught how to change your thought patterns, and learn to look at concerns in a more realistic way. This may be tried alone, or with medication.

Anxiety attacks/Panic anomalies, can’t be forestalled by’willing’ your intellect to stop them, but you can do a couple of things to help manage some of the worst symptoms. Try to restrict your caffeine intake, exercise every day, eat healthy, and always seek treatment from a pro if you feel it is getting out of control .

Schizophrenia is the mental illness with which psychotic symptoms are most often associated. However, bipolar disorder and depression can cause hallucinations.

With schizophrenia, the hallucinations and delusions may be of paranoia or being persecuted. Sometimes, the psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia can seem random.

Psychotic symptoms of bipolar disorder and depression are related to the mood disturbance. Psychotic symptoms of depression or depressive episodes can be much more severe than suicidal thoughts.

An example of a hallucination due to a depressive episode is hearing voices telling the person to commit suicide. Depression can cause delusions that the earth is a hellish place from which they must save their loved ones by killing them.

Mania causes hallucinations and delusions related to euphoria and grandiosity. The person may have a delusion that they have superpowers or have been chosen by God or another supernatural being.

Bipolar disorder and depression do not commonly cause psychotic symptoms. Most people living with these psychiatric conditions will never experience psychotic episodes.

Medication to treat psychosis, commonly referred to as anti-psychotic drugs, may be used to treat psychotic symptoms of bipolar disorder. Injections of an anti-psychotic medication like Haldol may be necessary if the person is resistent to taking their medication regularly.

The person may no longer experience psychotic symptoms once the bipolar disorder or depression is stabilized. The hallucinations and delusions are the person’s reality at the time the psychotic symptoms are experienced. People experiencing psychotic episodes may become fearful of the psychosis.

If you are among those that suffer from panic disorders or foreboding aberrations, then you are most likely always on the lookout for techniques which will stop the onset of a panic attack. Fortunately , this is a well investigated subject and there are plenty of options available that will fight uneasiness and depression at the same time. Many factors have been identified that will trigger a panic attack and there are always some terribly obvious and tell-tale signs when one is preparing to occur.

Your capability to read these signs as early as is possible is the best tool to preventing and counterbalancing them. When you have trained yourself to recognize the signs that indicate that the onset of a panic episode is just about to occur, you can move on to identify and learn about remedies for these.

The most significant cure while struggling against a panic disorder is to do something. Do not wait for it to clean over you ; do not wait to pit your strength against it and measure your will power against the storm that is created by an anxiety panic fit. The best way to battle it is to prevent it.

Traumatic as it is, a few straightforward steps at the commencement of an attack will help you tremendously. Most pros would say that you mustn’t brace yourself against it, but rather roll with the wave. In this way, the attack will are cyclical, and you will not feel devastated the day after.

A little out of the way, but well advised by doctors, is the effort to enhance self confidence, which, it appears, is explicitly connected with depression anxiety. Depression in turn, occurs when your self-expectations are frustrated by your abilities.

The timing is crucial, so you should be careful when one is taking over your self-control. You need to know that essentially all panic abnormalities are the result of some mismatch between who you believe you are and how others perceive you.

Panic disorders are the results of a psychological disease, and can turn regular, day by day issues into mammoth fears and stress attacks if left untreated. These attacks are tremendously dire since they are disproportionate to reality and , it becomes difficult for you to defend yourself against it.

Health pros advise that the only things that may control such attacks are strong self-determination, appropriate drugs and timely action. All these initiatives should be applied at the same time in the correct order and intensity to provide you with relief.

.

by Sheila Wilson

Episodes of hypomania may warrant a diagnosis of bipolar II disorder if the person is also having episodes of depression. Hypomania causes symptoms of mania that are not severe enough to be considered a manic episode.

Cyclothymic disorder is another psychiatric condition that includes episodes of hypomania. Cyclothymia is the presence of numerous hypomanic episodes for at least two years.

The symptoms of hypomania include an abnormally irritable or elevated mood that lasts for at least four days. The mood disturbance and other symptoms of mania must last for at least a week or be severe enough to require hospitalization for the symptoms to be considered evidence of a manic episode.

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) by the American Psychiatric Association, the person must have at least three other symptoms of mania during the mood disturbance or four or more symptoms if the mood disturbance is irritibility for it to be considered a hypomanic episode. During an episode of hypomania, the person may develop distractibility and an inflated self-esteem or gradiosity which are two symptoms of mania.

Possible symptoms of mania include a decreased need for sleep, increased talkativeness, and racing thoughts. The decreased need for sleep can cause the person to sleep much less than usual, often as little as three hours a day, without a resulting fatigue or tiredness.

An episode of hypomania can cause the person to become preoccupied with goal-oriented behavior. During a hypomanic episode, a considerable amount of time and energy may be spent in pursuit of social, work-related, or personal goals.

Hypomania can cause the person to engage in pleasurable activities without regards to the consequences of their behavior. These activities with which the person becomes excessively involved are often out of character for the person.

To be considered an episode of hypomania, the symptoms must cause a change in functioning but not significant social or occupational impairment. The change in functioning must be an observable change and not just the person’s perception of a change.

The hypomania may be reclassified as a manic episode if the symptoms become severe enough to cause an occupational or social impairment or the symptoms persist for more than a week. Since the defining symptom of bipolar I disorder is the presence of a manic episode, the diagnosis may change from cyclothymic disorder or bipolar II disorder to bipolar I disorder.

by Marie D. Tracy

Anxiety and panic attacks can appear potentially terminal. Having experienced the anxiety of a panic attack myself, I know how frightening it can be. In my case, I was so worried that I went to the ER of the local hospital because I’d never heard of a ‘panic attack’ before. I presumed I was having a coronary, and I was far too young for that. My chest was tight, I had difficulty breathing, and I literally thought I’d die. It was not till the doctor told me I had zero to stress about ( he informed me that I simply had a panic fit ) that I felt any sort of relief at all.

An anxiety attack, or a ‘panic attack,’ sometimes occurs when the person least expects it. Often brought on by stress, they can occur all of a sudden and set off a person to become short of breath, feel pain inside their body, and feel like they are experiencing a heavy medical problem due to the intense sense of anxiety. Panic episodes aren’t life-threatening, however, and they can be dealt with and cured through natural means without medicine. Panic episode relief, , is simply accomplished by anyone.

The American psychological association states that stress and panic fits can be as short as a few seconds, but sometimes last longer. Frequently they’re going on for 15-30 mins, but can occur in cycles lasting a couple of hours. After you understand that panic episodes are a result of extreme levels of stress and anxiety, which itself is due to something else going on in your life, the next question is what to do about it. How do you stop panic attacks? Is there a remedy for anxiety and panic attacks?

It is necessary to understand that a panic fit is both a physical and a psychological phenomenon. You’re feeling the physical sensations, which are the ‘panic’ or ‘attack’ part of it, and these are real sensations you are feeling, not just something imaginary. It’s also true that there is a mental par, because something in your life is causing stress or nervousness to such an acute that it results in those frightening physical sensations.

Yes, you can stop panic attacks dead in their tracks, in a natural way without medication, by grasping the way to control the stress and what to do when you start to feel those panic sensations.

First, identify what’s causing you the strain. 2nd, learn how to deal with the stress in a healthy way. Third, make use of some straightforward methods,eg the deep breath hold, to end the uneasiness or panic feelings when they appear. Do those 3 easy things and you will cure panic attacks forever.

.
